Now this is old Americana
Kinda like this
The funnier picture, which I don't have, would be the Alberta Dances with Wolves version in which Hiway goes out and grabs a picture of me chasing the buff's in the field. Mt Carmel's premier eating establishment
And now for the story. James used to work here, and I believe his Mom either used to, or still does. Anyway, as I was walking in to the building I noticed the lower of the two signs, which apparently slipped by most people, so I shall show it to you below. Oh yeah, baby, ho-made pies
So I go in to the restaurant, order some food, which was very good, by the way, and then go over and ask James if his mother used to work here. He acknowledges it, and I show him the photograph I took off my camera. He starts to laugh and then tells me that we still have to drive right by her place and that she will be out there with a hoe. So I asked him, "Oh, does she have a daughter?" He took it well. The doctor says I should have the stitches out on Saturday. Oh, next story, right on its heels. So we're driving through the little town of Glendale, or at least approaching it. Polo likes to take pictures of the group from in front and has roared on ahead to get set up for a hillshot picture. As we approach the town, speed limit 40, he crests the hill doing something probably in excess of 90 mph and sees, at the bottom of the hill, the Kane County Sheriff's truck, shown below. My bike and the sheriff's rig
Darn near having a heart attack he breaks, quickly calculating how big the fine will be, when he notices, as he approaches it, that the driver is actually a storefront dummy! The police officer
And gee, the stories just keep rolling, but two blocks later I run in to the quintessential redneck house. Check this out: Truck up on blocks, burned out wreck beside it, two more trucks parked in the yard, and if you were to go a little more to the right, you would see them watering the 25 square feet of grass still available.
