My bike as I prepare to leave
My bike, my rainbow
So here's what really happened! --Tuesday I left on Tuesday night after work, headed for Bassano, west of Brooks, where my cousin Susan lives. I really like her, but having just said this, it means that now I am going to owe her sister Carol a visit. And she lives up in Fairview. Uffda! A dinosaur at Drumheller
--Wednesday So, I fire up the bike a little after 6:30 and head for the border. Hey, it's a border run! So I make it there in a little over 2 hours, buzz through the Customs people and now I'm in Montana! Montana is beautiful! It has everything you could hope for if you are an outdoor kind of person. Within one square mile you can go rock climbing, horseback riding, canoeing, hiking and quadding. And then go cross country skiing in the winter time. I sail through here and end up in Idaho, which is also pretty darn pretty. I love driving through these states. But it is a long run. I make the 1300 km run (850 for you 'Meercans) in 13 hours and a bit. Which, considering that I had to stop every 90 - 120 minutes to fill up, wasn't bad. Turns out my butt is good for about 10 hours in the saddle, then the pins and needles settle in. |
