| Once we hit highway 108 we were off. The Sierras are long and gradually sloping over a 50 mile length coming from the west and heading east. But on the east side of the divide, it does the same altitude drop in about 4 miles. So we climbed 6000 feet in about 4-6 miles all told (road miles) |
