Miette Horseback Riding '07

So, we headed out on Sunday afternoon to a place about 20 miles south of Hinton on Hwy 40, otherwise known as the Forestry Trunk Road for those of us that have lived here in Alberta for way too long!

There were 4 of us, me, Jim, Dwayne and Don
And our horses, R4, Apache, Victory and Alaska

Dwayne cooked
Jim did horses
Don and I tried to look appreciative, mostly

Don sang at night
Jim woke up at 7 and assumed we should all have been awake for hours and we were currently behind schedule
Warren sat around and look appreciative, mostly

Don created entertainment whilst we were riding horses
Dwayne fixed things at camp with his wonderful toolkit
Jim made a plan and had us follow it
Warren sat around and looked appreciative, mostly

Not bad scenery we headed in to, is it?

Well, part of the joy of what we were doing is that we went to places that are not generally acceptable to the general public. In particular, where our camp was, on the other side of the river where a bridge had once been. Oh well!

Cooking Tarp

We were very fortunate that the weather during our week out here was awesome. It was not too hot, and it was clear at night which meant that it was cold. Shivery cold for some that did not have good sleeping bags.

First night (still happy): Bill, Dwayne, Jim, Don and Warren

Morning Bacon (mmmm, pork!)

Chef Dwayne: he did a great job!
