This list is not going to be used for anything other than to help people with the name Regehr find each other. I have been going through the Internet white pages and trying to get as many Regehr's as possible notified of this site as possible. Please include people that you know who don't have Internet access also so we can get as big as possible a list. If you can give any genealogy information that would also be appreciated (parents, grandparents, towns (and district/provinces/countries) that they came from.

My grandparents came from Ladekopp-Orlofferfeld in West Prussia, over to Molotschna in the Ukraine and then settled in southern Alberta.

Check out some of the names at the bottom, see if you recognize anyone.

Some of my history:

  • My great-grandfather was Gerhard Regehr(1853-1910). He was married twice.
  • He married his first wife, Justina around 1875(?). She died at some later time, unfortunately nothing is known about this time.
  • They had four children, Anna, Gerhard, Aaron and Justina. Their history has been lost for us.
  • My great-grandmother, Aganetha Thiessen (1866-1958), was born in Kuta, just outside the molotchna Colony.
  • They married in 1890.
  • My grandfather, Peter, was born August 21, 1899 in Wladimyr, Sagradovka and then at age 3 moved to Pordenau.
  • In 1924 he married Katherine Klassen of Schardau (daughter of Peter and Katherine Klassen).
  • In 1926 they moved to Canada with one son (Edward) to the town of Sedalia, Alberta.
  • In 1927 they moved onto their own property in New Brigdon, Alberta.
  • In 1930 they moved to Chinook, Alberta (outside Cereal).
  • In 1931 my father, Gerhard, was born in Cereal, Alberta.
  • In 1934 they moved to Tofield, Alberta.
  • Eventually my Dad met up with my Mom and the rest is, as they say, history.

I am hoping you can help me. My great grandmother's maiden name was Justina Regehr. The following is what I know about her and I am trying to find more information such as her parents and siblings' names:

-> Justina Regehr(5/25/1870 to 12/2/1939) in Molostchna, Russia
-> married Abraham A Funk also born in Molostchna, Russia
(His family immigrate to Philadelphia on 7/25/1875)
-> family immigrated to the USA in 1878
-> married in Mountain Lake, MN
-> moved to Mennon, Sask. in 1902
-> moved to Dalmeny, Sask. in 1922
-> Justina d 12/2/39 in Dalmeny, Sask. Canada
-> children:
Abraham R (1/14/1893 - Mountain Lake),
John J. (2/27/1895 - Mountain Lake),
Justina (9/6/1897 - Mountain Lake),
Elizabeth (6/29/1899 - Mountain Lake),
August (2/26/1901-02 - Mountain Lake),
Minna (1/15/1903),
Albert (5/18/1905 - Langham, Sask.
Linda (9/22/1907 - Dalmeny, Sask.
Anna (12/26/1909),
Dora (3/1/1912 - Mennon, Sask.
Clarence (5/18/1915) - Mennon, Sask.

At this time it appears that on July 2, 1878 she and her family arrived in New York aboard the Strassburg, arriving from Bremen.

With her were here parents, Johann and Maria and her sisters and brother, Katharina, Anna, Margaretha, Sarah, Eva and Kornelius. Also on board were other Regehrs however, at this time I cannot ascertain their relationship to Justina. I suspect that some or all of them are aunts, uncles and cousins. There names are as follows:

Abraham and Sara Abraham - children: Abraham, Isaak and Gerhard

Johann and Anna Regehr - children: Katharina and Johann

Klass and Maria - children: Maria
