SR-71 Blackbird

I'll bet you didn't know that the SR-71 Blackbird began its life in 1958! It remains the fastest, highest flying, air-breathing production aircraft in the world!
The plane had a star tracker system that used stars to navigate with, independent of any ground-based systems
The leading edge of the plane would heat up to 427C, too hot for ground crew to touch when it initially landed
