After lunch we headed out for Kriebstein Castle. Compared to Rochsburg this one only had one inner courtyard but the interior had levels, like a split- level house. Rochsburg had even floors. Looking at the pictures you can see that the location was chosen for defense purposes. From the river it is impossible to attack. And when you are not being attacked, what better way to amuse your paeon farmer slaves by having them create a waterfall for you! Apparently the farmers had to give 10% to the castle owner (a Count usually) as well as at least 2 weeks a year of free castle labour. And you thought your boss was the first to come up with the idea of free slave labour! Entrance to Kriebstein district
