Warren's Brazil Trip

This is on the elevator at the hotel. It would appear that it is
illegal, since 1997, to step in to elevator shafts. If you step into
the elevator shaft with no elevator present they will charge you with
some offense. You would think that the fact that you are probably going
to die would be enough of a deterrent, but apparently not.

What makes for a Warren rant? This map is from their tourism board and
when I asked a local how to get to one of the places, he had no idea
where the #26 waterfalls were. And I couldn't find any road even in that
region. Spent a half hour getting frustrated. You'd have thought that by
the time I spent five minutes and couldn't find a relevant road I would
have just given up, but no-ooooooooo, Warren's not that smart!

This was my ride, a Ford Fiesta. Definite 1980's feel to it. Including the vapor lock in the carburetor

What's missing in this interior car picture? A thermostat!

So, today is Saturday and I headed off to Gramado and Canela, in a more
mountainous area north of Porto Alegre. Since the northern part of the
state I was in, Rio Grande Du Sol, which roughly translates into
Southern Grand River, is the closest to the equator, it also stands to
reason that their holiday resorts tend to be in that direction. And
	they are.

The two main holiday/resort areas are Gramado, where I am heading to
today, and Torres Beach, at the very very northeast tip of the State.

Gramado gives you the mountain experience, Torres the beach thing.

Tomorrow I am going to head to the beach. Not Torres, it's a little
farther out than I wish to go for a day trip.

Taquara, I believe, just a small town along the way

A very common scene in the country side
